Fr. Solanus Beatification: 11/18

Pope Francis has announced that Fr. Solanus will be Beatified, November 18 at 4PM at Ford Field, Detroit. Divine Child Parish is designated to receive 200 tickets. If you are interested in attending the Beatification Mass, please email Vicky or call her at the Rectory (313-277-3110) by September 8 with your name and number of tickets requested. We will disburse, by lottery, a maximum of two (2) tickets per request. You must be a registered, active parishioner of Divine Child to request these FREE tickets. More details regarding this event will be forthcoming in our church bulletin.

Discovery Day: 10/26

All 8th graders will be attending the Divine Child High School’s Discovery Day on Thursday, October 26, from 9-2:30 p.m. After first hour, students will be escorted by their homeroom teachers to the high school. Lunch consisting of salad and pizza will be provided by Dearborn Italian Bakery. No RSVP is needed for DCES students.

During DCHS Discovery Day, students will:
Connect with DCHS Link Crew members who will help them to meet other students
Attend four mini-classes with DCHS engaging teachers
Experience the faith community by attending a liturgy presided by Fr. Jim Bilot
Partake in a service project led by DCHS National Honor Society members
Attend an energizing pep rally coordinated by DCHS Student Council

CYO Online Registration for Track, Baseball, Softball

NEW Online CYO Registration for Spring 2016 Sports is here!

If you have a child interested in participating in Church of the Divine Child’s Catholic Youth Organization sports program, you must complete and submit the online CYO Athletics Registration Form.

Also, please read new Athletic League Rules Policy regarding Travel Teams (November 2015) and Message to Players and Parents.

Each participant must obtain a physical and submit all required forms to Divine Child’s CYO Athletic Department prior to participating in any CYO athletics, including team try-outs.

Investing in Excellence Capital Campaign Update

Dear Alumni and Friends of Divine Child,

Alumni should have received a letter and the most recent update on the Investing in Excellence Capital Campaign. We have much to be proud of since the launch of this initiative. To date, over $2,136,000 has been committed of the $6,000,000 goal to support the three phases of capital improvements.

  • Phase 1 (COMPLETED!): High School Auditorium renovations with 598 new seats, stage floor and more. And, upgrades to the Elementary School in preparation for Phase 2, including locker rooms, youth ministry room and multi-function area.
  • Phase 2:  Outdoor athletic complex including a multi-purpose synthetic playing surface, seating for 1900, locker rooms, restrooms, lighting, eight-lane running track, long jump, pole vault, discus and shot-put circles. 

DONATE TODAY in order to begin construction in the Spring of 2016!

  • Phase 3:  High School and Elementary School Science Classroom renovations.

Prospective parents and students are invited to our elementary school’s Open House on Sunday, January 31 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Families can attend our 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Mass and then tour the school afterwards.

This is a great opportunity to meet our teachers and find out more about our spiritual, academic, athletic, social and creative programs. No RSVP is necessary.
